IRI organizational expert featured in Fortune Small Magazine Makeover article: "Wired for Growth"

Detroit, Michigan (December 20, 2006) — IRI Consultants to Management, Inc. was featured in the December 2006 issue of Fortune Small Business magazine in the popular "Makeover" section. This monthly feature helps a successful firm propel itself to the next level by enlisting on-site advice from America's top experts.

In this issue, author Patricia Gray profiles a minority-owned telecom in Detroit, MI who was stumped on the steps needed to grow. Fortune Small Business sent three seasoned business experts to help unsnarl the telecom's tangled wires - including Frank Wydra, an organizational expert with IRI.

The trio converged on the telecom's headquarters for a grueling day-long meeting with the owner and other managers. What they told them - and how they took it - is bluntly described in "Wired for Growth: FSB's consultants swoop in to help a telecom startup reach the big time." As described in the article, their advice to succeed included:

  • Make up for low startup salaries by AWARDING STOCK OPTIONS to new hires.
  • Recruit a BLUE-CHIP CFO who can help attract skittish investment capital.
  • Even CEOs need mentoring, so appoint an EXPERIENCED ADVISORY BOARD.

Commenting on the experience, the owner and CEO said, "This was a very informative session. The advice from these consultants helped us identify what issues we needed to address, and what steps to take, to position our company for future growth."

One month after the Makeover, FSB checked in with the CEO to find out how his business was progressing. He has put the advice from the three consultants - including a telecom strategist, an executive search expert, and Frank Wydra, an organizational expert- to work.

"As with many startup companies, they were aiming in a multitude of directions, thus diluting their performance," summarized Frank Wydra. "My advice to the CEO: focus, not only on business goals, but in the selection of key personnel who will not diffuse the firm's Human Resource Architecture."
